He was recognized by the Baltimore Sun as First Team All-Metro for Indoor Track and at the first outdoor track meet he set a school record in the 200 m dash running 22.24.

Eagle Scout Award
Congratulations to J. Piekarz for earning Eagle Scout status. Josh's final project involved painting speed bumps yellow and safety stripes on steps at his synagogue. Josh was 13 when he joined the boy scouts. He also took down an old sign and created a flower garden at the synagogue.

Rising Among Differences (MRAD), under the direction of Coordinator Natalie
Bailey, and MRAD president, Eddie Fine sponsored a trip to the state
capitol -MD House of Delegates on Friday, March 24th, 2017.
Students toured the historic buildings in celebration of MD Day, learned
about MD history, viewed the process of how a bill is passed,
observed a senate session in which Bobby Zirkin argued about gun
control, and dined at a local Italian restaurant. MRAD received a
Resolution from the House of Delegates where speaker, Mike Busch
acknowledged the club's promotion of bridging the cultural divide and
promoting respect among diverse cultures at Pikesville High School.
The school’s principal, Mrs. Sandra Reid, was in attendance as well as two
other school staff members.

Scott Nichols Receives ITEEA Award of Excellence
Scott Nichols, Technology Chair, was honored at the Technology and Engineering Educators Association of Maryland (TEEAM) Awards Ceremony which was held at the Engineer's Club of Baltimore. Scott was recognized as THE ONLY educator in the entire state of Maryland to receive the ITEEA Award of Excellence! He will receive further accolades for his innovative, cutting-edge teaching practices and undeniable contributions to technology education at the National Convention in Washington DC March 2nd-4th.
Congratulations to Carson Stewart for placing 3rd in the Towson Young Artists Showcase!
Yesterday was the County/District Solo and Ensemble festival and we had 18 students from the music department participate either as soloists or members of an ensemble. Every ensemble and soloist received a one rating (the highest) and qualified for the state festival to be held in May.
Congratulations to the following wrestlers for their performance at the regional tournament
Rasim Aliyev placed 5th. Chuck Ogala placed 5th. Joseph Abramovitz placed 4th Josh Bishop placed 3rd. Zakir Muradov placed 2nd. And Ravil Aliyev placed 1st. As a team we placed 6th in the region. Of those wrestlers, 4 have qualified to states and 2 are alternates.
Congrats to our entire Freshman Model Congress delegation who represented Pikesville at the county-wide congressional committee simulation this past Friday. Special kudos should go to Truman Stewart who was named Honorable Mention for his work in the Senate Judiciary Committee and Alexa Fleming who won the Gavel Award as best speaker in the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee.

Congratulations to the wrestling team for an impressive win Dec. 8 against Overlea. With a 73-11 point victory the team is poised for a great season. Way to go J Martinez for winning her very first varsity match! Come out and support the team this Thursday when they wrestle against Patapsco and Woodlawn starting at 4:00.

It is with immense pleasure to announce that Scott Nichols has been selected by TEEAM (Technology and Engineering Educators Association of Maryland) to receive the ITEEA High School Teacher Excellence Award. This award recognizes teachers, at the International Technology and Engineering Education Association’s annual conference, who exemplify excellence in Technology Education. He was the only Maryland teacher to win this prestigious award.
As part of this outstanding recognition, Scott will be attending the international conference in March at the National Harbor.
